PURPOSE: To supply customers in our system with water service.
SUPPLY: Girard’s water source is the Meander Reservoir. We purchase our water from Youngstown, Niles and McDonald. We service all customers in Girard, and parts of Liberty Township and Weathersfield. Currently, we have a total of 5,837 customers in our system.
DEPARTMENT STAFF: The Director of Public Services oversees the water department. The staff consists of the office manager (Jackie Massuri), two clerks, and a serviceman. The Water Superintendent is (Mike Scoville). There is also a water foreman (Ashley Alejars) and three other employees who oversee the outside maintenance and service. The Ohio Revised Code and Girard City Ordinances provide the framework for the department’s operations. To contact the Water Department, please call (330) 545-5857. BILLING: This process is bi-monthly. The bill consists of water and sewage charges. The sewage rates are based on water consumption. A deposit is charged to all customers moving into the system or transferring in the system. They must come into the office to sign for water service.
OFFICE HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:00 There is a night deposit box located on the department outside window on Market Street for their convenience.
